Paul B. Hendrickson World War I collection
This collection contains correspondence between Hendrickson, his family, and his future wife, in the form of letters and postcards. The collection also includes a map drawn by Henderson, photographs, and a diary during the year he was stationed in France.
Paul B. Hendrickson was born October 8, 1896 in Crawford County, Illinois. He enlisted in the Band Headquarters Co, 5th Illinois Infantry National Guard, serving in the first enlistment in 1917 with training initially occurring at Camp Parker in Quincy, Illinois. That same year Hendrickson moved to Camp Logan in Houston, Texas where he was appointed Sergeant Bugler; in 1918 he went to France. His service concluded in 1919, returning to the US the same year and marrying Cecil Frances Rife in 1923.
