Joe Biden Science Policy Collection
This collection hosts materials related to the science and technology policies, agencies, and professionals of the Joe Biden Administration (2021-). In 2021, President Biden selected Dr. Eric Lander, a geneticist who previously served as president of the Broad Institute and also as co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) for President Obama, as his Assistant to the President for Science and Technology. Lander was later confirmed as director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in May 2021, a position which was elevated to the Cabinet level by President Biden in January 2021. Drs. Maria T. Zuber, a geophysicist serving as vice president for research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Frances Arnold, a chemist at the California Institute of Technology and recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018, were selected as co-chairs of PCAST.
Dr. Lander resigned from his position as director of OSTP in 2022. He was succeeded by Dr. Arati Prabhakar, an engineer who previously served as director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), who also serves as co- chair of PCAST with Drs. Zuber and Arnold.
The materials of this collection are sourced from Biden-era government websites and are reproduced here as part of the public domain.
