This collection hosts materials related to the science and technology polcies, agencies, and professionals of the Barack Obama Administration (2009-2017). In 2009, President Obama appointed Dr. John Holdren, a physicist and weapons control and environmental policy expert, as Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). The President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) was also rechartered

After Dr. Varmus stepped away from PCAST in 2010 to serve as the director of the National Cancer Institute, Drs. William Press and Maxine Savitz were appointed as vice-chairs.
The materials of this collection are sourced from Obama-era government websites and National Archives and Records Administration-operated archived webpages. They are reproduced here as part of the public domain; other materials may be restricted.
