TIMEA Historical Maps and Plans

This collection contains over 150 maps and plans, primarily of Egypt in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Most of these maps were taken from travel guides. Every effort was made to smooth out folds and scan the page as straight as possible, but preventing damage to the original object was our highest priority.

These maps and plans enable you to study how political boundaries were drawn over the course of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; to examine detailed representations of places such as Alexandria, Cairo, and the Nile; to scrutinize the routes taken by nineteenth century travelers; and to view maps of ancient Egypt.
