TIMEA About and Research
Within this grouping, there are documents about the Travelers in the Middle East Archive, research and teaching guides, and a research collection.
TIMEA is a digital archive that focuses on Western interactions with the Middle East, particularly travels to Egypt during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. TIMEA brings together: images, such as postcards, stereoscope views and book illustrations of monuments, street scenes, people and events; texts, including travel guides, museum catalogs, and travel narratives; maps, including historical maps; research.
TIMEA's research collection contains papers, presentations, usability protocols, and reports related to work on the Travelers in the Middle East Archive. The research focuses on creating cultural heritage GIS (Geographic Information Systems) maps, its former use of DSpace as a repository for digitized materials, and building a web portal that integrates texts, images, educational modules, and maps. Also, in this collection are research and teaching guides that explore the research process and set materials in context.
Some of the information in this collection may be out of date or refer to DSpace the previous home for these materials.
