Colonel Edward M. House correspondence
This collection consists of correspondence to and from Edward M. House on a number of subjects including real estate and regional reserve banks. The letters are predominantly addressed to Thomas C. Dunn. Other contributors include William G. McAdoo, Paul M. Warburg, and Dewitt C. Dunn.
Edward Mandell House was born in Houston, Texas on July 26, 1858. He attended Cornell University but returned to Texas in his third year when his father died. He managed Governor James Hogg’s re-election campaign among others. Upon moving to New York to pursue larger political arenas, House met Woodrow Wilson and he became Woodrow’s confidant and unofficial advisor.
