Westheimer / Simon Family Papers
This collection includes an event program for the Israel Expo consisting of session details, exhibitor information, Israeli history, advertisements, and sponsor acknowledgements.
Mitchell Louis Westheimer was born in Baden, Germany on August 22, 1831. Westheimer moved to Texas in the 1850s and would go on to marry Babette Betty Hirsch in 1860 with whom he raised sixteen children. As Houston had no public schools in the 1860s, Westheimer built a school on his farm which students could attend for free. A portion of his estate became the street most Houstonians recognize as Westheimer Road.
