United Orthodox Synagogues records
This collection consists of a scrapbook from the synagogue’s predecessor, Adath Emeth. The scrapbook includes news clippings, newsletters, correspondence, photographs, and event materials from the Rambam Chapter of National Council of Synagogue Youth in 1963.
The United Orthodox Synagogues (UOS) of Houston was founded in 1965 out of two separate synagogues coming together, Adath Emeth and Beth Israel. Dwindling memberships and financial hardships led to the merger and a final congregation, Adath Israel, joined UOS in 1966.
The original materials are held by the Woodson Research Center in Fondren Library. Search the finding aid/inventory for the United Orthodox Synagogues records, MS 712.
