Abbie Hoffman Incident oral histories
This collection contains interviews with Rice University professors concerning the circumstances leading up to activist Abbie Hoffman’s 1970 visit to the campus.
Student Center Board president, Jerilyn Mardis, had invited Hoffman, unaware of the future tensions between students and the administration that would arise due to the invitation. The Incident included an unknown person setting fire to Dean Frederick Weirum's office, as well as the occupation of Allen Center. Some of the events during that time period occurred without being tied to the invitation of Abbie Hoffman.
The original materials are held by the Woodson Research Center in Fondren Library. Search the finding aid/inventory for the Abbie Hoffman Incident oral histories, UA 428.
