Dr. John McNeill Stewart medical log
This collection contains the medical record book kept by Brazoria physician John McNeill Stewart from November 1836 to November 1837. Each of the entries includes dates, names, and treatment prescribed along with his fee.
Dr. John McNeill Stewart was born in North Carolina and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The University of Pennsylvania Medical School in Philadelphia. He then moved to the Territory of Florida where he became active in politics and backed potential governors. Later Stewart moved to Brazoria County, Texas where he remained as a general practitioner for the remainder of his life.
