Zoroastrian community interviews
This collection contains oral histories, transcripts, and photographs from members of the community. Members of the Zoroastrian Association of Houston conducted these interviews with initial training provided by the Chao Center for Asian Studies.
The Zoroastrian Association of Houston (ZAH) was established in 1977 to preserve Zoroastrian religious practices and rich and varied culture. Members gather at the Zarathushti Heritage & Cultural Center, built in 1998, to learn, celebrate, and worship together. Conferences, lectures, workshops, intercultural events, plays, dance programs, art exhibits, interfaith activities as well as observances and celebrations are held at the Center. The ZAH is an active member of the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA).
The Chao Center for Asian Studies is the premier research hub for faculty, students and post-doctoral scholars working in Asian studies at Rice. The Center focuses on transnational, trans-historic, diasporic, and global movements of peoples and cultures of greater Asia.
The original materials are held by the Woodson Research Center in Fondren Library. Search the finding aid/inventory for the Zoroastrian Association of Houston oral history interviews and ephemera, MS 624.
