Dr. Ed C. M. Chen collection of oral history interviews with Asian American Houstonians
This collection consists of oral history interviews conducted by Dr. Ed Chen and fellow members of the Chinese American community in Houston. Also included are several recordings of the KPFT "Echoes of China" radio program produced by Andy Lai, dating from 1980-1981. These were donated by Dr. Edward Chen to the Chao Center for Asian Studies at Rice University.
Dr. Edward Chen was born and raised in Houston, Texas, a third generation Chinese American. He attended Rice University and later earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Houston. He went on to work in the chemical industry, becoming Chief Chemist at Signal Chemical Company.
