Early Houston histories and documents
This collection consists of books, documents, and correspondence on the early history of Houston, Texas. The original materials date from 1833 to 1931.
Houston, Texas was founded on August 30, 1836, by brothers Augustus C. and John K. Allen, who bought 6,642 acres near the headwaters of Buffalo Bayou.
The original materials are held by the Woodson Research Center in Fondren Library.
