Chandler Davidson Texas Politics research collection
This collection consists of oral histories, lectures, and talks.These recordings reflect Dr. Chandler Davidson’s research into the liberal political movement in Texas in the 1970s. Interviewees include Texas politicians Billie Carr, Ralph Yarborough, Bob Eckhardt, Walter Hall, Sam Rayburn, Margaret Carter, Allan Shivers, and others.
Chandler Davidson was a professor of Social Sciences at Rice University as well as a professor emeritus of Political Science. His research from this project and his teachings initiated the Texas Politics Oral History Program. He wrote Race and Class in Texas Politics about the state’s inherent political complexities.
