Great Britain Admiralty account book
This collection contains an account book titled “General Expenditure of the Admiralty” from April 2, 1661 to November 2, 1662. It includes individual wages for officers and crews, allowances for food, prices of provisions to be paid to and by the Purser, and various allowances and expense lists.
The Royal Navy was controlled by the office of Lord High Admiral. The Board of the Admiralty took charge of the Royal Navy by the 18th century and was the authority in the United Kingdom for the command of the Royal Navy until 1964, when the Ministry of Defence took over as the head of all military affairs.
