David Latimer Tinling-Widdrington journal
This collection contains a journal that chronicles the military career of David Tinling-Widdington’s son George, who died in 1813 at the Battle of Vittoria, the decisive battle of the Peninsular War. The journal also consists of genealogical information concerning the Widdrington name and army lists detailing regiments from the British, Portuguese, and French armies.
David Latimer Tinling-Widdrington was a senior officer in the British Army, first serving as a Major of Brigade and then as a Lieutenant Colonel, and lastly as a Major General with an appointment to the staff at Gibraltar.
